Matthew Harper is the maker behind MjH Leathercraft, creating one-of-a-kind leather bags and objects in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Working through a deliberately freestyle approach, Matthew allows each piece to evolve organically rather than working from rigid patterns. His leatherwork combines premium English and Italian leathers with solid hardware and carefully sourced vintage and antique brooches, buckles and buttons. Drawing inspiration from nature, geometric forms, colour, fantasy and the unexpected, his bags are conceived as wearable works of art — each one original and rarely repeated. He also undertakes selected bespoke commissions where he can retain creative control over the design.
