Jane Birchall is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice centres on sculptural ceramics and acrylic works on canvas. Born in London, Jane has had a long career spanning fashion, interiors and design before dedicating herself fully to her art. Her ceramic work is deeply influenced by the rugged coastline and landscapes of Gozo, where she has maintained a longstanding connection since first visiting the island in 1984. Working primarily in clay, she explores texture, fluidity and the contrast between the ruggedness of Maltese stone and the delicacy of local lace. Traces of the making process, carving and smoothing remain deliberately visible, creating a dialogue between fragility and resilience. Her work has been exhibited in the UK and Europe and is held in private collections.
